AVIDI was so grateful when I was picked to join Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) my freshman year out of all the applicants. AVID is a program that prepares your for college and encourages you to take more rigorous courses in high school to build up your college resume. Throughout my time in AVID the class has built a support system for everyone where we know we can get help with anything. The work load of the program is different from what other students have to do because there more challenging work to do, in order to push you to go above and beyond.

ASBI joined ASB my junior year and quickly it became my favorite class. Most of the time we were volunteering, planing rallies or helping out around school. It doesn't even feel like work I enjoy being involved and having a say in what goes on around school. It has been a great way to meet no people and learn new ideas from others. I also enjoy the business aspect of it; once a week the class gets together for our meetings where we discuss upcoming events, purchas order and activity request. Senior year I have been more involved than ever in ASB and I even became School site council rep.

Key ClubKey Club is a group of stubents who get together and volunteer around the community to encourage leadership. We do things like clean ups, dinners and food drives. I have been apart of key club for two years now and I enjoy going to the meeting to learn about what is going on in the community. I enjoy volunteering and helping others, it gives me a feel like a productive member of society. Any time we can do something for the community, it is good to know that we, the students at LHS were able to give back and make an impact on our community.

Prom CommitteeMy junior year our class committee got together to plan prom. We spent a lot of time planning out the whole theme and buying decorations while staying in budget. The students in the prom committee got together often to talk about the things we thought would make it a night to remember for the senior class and I believe it was well exicuted. The morning of prom we got to the venue early that morning and set up all the decorations and tables and things to go along with prom. When we were all done and stepped back to look at it, we were proud of what we had come up with together.

Homecoming CommitteeSophmore year a group of us got together to create our homecomming float. Our theme was based on the movie, "Wreck it Ralph", we spent hours drawing different ideas of what the float could look like until we came up with the perfect plan. For weeks we constructed trees, a bulding and even a make shift go cart. When it was all said and done it turned out better than I could have imagined. We didn't win best float, but for me that didn't take away from what we had built.

Excursion ClubExcursion club isn't an on campus organization but it is run by one of the teachers at LHS. This is a program that allows you to go on a week long trip to visit historical landmarks in Washington DC, Boston, Phildelphia and New York. I probably wouldn't have been as interested in going on the trip if not for my AP US History class my junior year, but after learning about all the historical stories behind the landmarks we will visit I became very interested. Our trip is in June of 2017 and I'm excited about the oppurtunity to expand my horizons and see what the other side of the United States is like. I belive it will be a great learning experience and something I will remember for the rest of my life.

PhotographyFor me taking pictures is a way for people to have a portal back to a time otherwise forgotten. I have been taking pictures for three years now and it is a way for me to unwind and relax. I have taken pictures for first birthdays, family picures and senior pictures. In many ways I believe that in many ways I have improved the way I take pictures. This is something that I plan to do in the future as a side job. mostly because I enjoy it so much.

School Site Council RepresentativeI have been school site council representitive since the begining of Senior year and it has been a great learning experience. I take pleasure in being apart of what goes on in the school and being a voice for the student body. The experience of going to all the meeting is going to help me in future situations because it will prepare me for speaking in front of a group of people. This skill can prepare me for my senior exit interveiw and job interveiws.

Volunteer Hours
Tree PlantingFreshman year my AVID class got together to restore the beauty in our local parks. We got into grups of three and had the goal of planting a tree. Each person had a job, whether it be picking the tree, setting the plant in the hole, packing in dirt or watering it. Then once we were done we would help the next group.

FoodboothsFor the past four years I have volunteered at several different food booths for several differnt clubs including, AVID, Class of 2017 and Key Club. Our goal in doing so is to raise money for the group participating in order to have funds for anything we may need.

Scicon BBQScicon has an anual family BBQ and one year a friend of mine and I volunteered to clean and serve food to the people visiting. It was a great experience to interact with all the people and see the smile on peoples faces as the enjoyed the day.
